GRIEVANCE REDRESS MECHANISM

This Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) will be applied to stakeholder complaints and grievances, perceived or actual, which relate to the activities of the project and its responsible partners and contractors’ activities in relation to project implementation. A complaint or grievance is an issue, concern, problem, or claim (perceived or actual) that an individual stakeholder or community group has related to the project and its responsible partners and contractors’ operations and activities. The mechanism does not impede access to judicial or administrative resolutions.

The Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) provides a comprehensive framework to manage and mitigate potential environmental and social impacts arising from the development of value chains for bioprospecting products such as African Ginger, Devil’s Claw, Pelargonium sidoides, Aloe ferox, Honeybush, and Rooibos. These species hold significant economic and cultural value and are primarily sourced from areas inhabited by historically marginalized communities, including the San, Khoi, and Coloured peoples.
