Deputy Minister Narend Singh to launch the Working for the Coast Programme In Ethekwini

The Deputy Minister, Mr Narend Singh, will officially launch the Working for the Coast (WftC) Programme on Friday, 29 August 2025 at North Beach, Blue Lagoon, eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal.
The Working for the Coast initiative forms part of the Department’s Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), which creates work opportunities while tackling environmental challenges. The WftC programme specifically focuses on cleaning river embankments, waterways, and coastal areas to prevent litter and waste from entering the ocean, thereby protecting biodiversity, public health, and local economies.
The launch of the WftC in eThekwini signals government’s continued commitment to protecting South Africa’s coastline while creating jobs and building community resilience.
