Deputy Minister Sotyu leads Green Back-To-School Campaign in Botshabelo, Free State

The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms. Makhotso Sotyu, will on 16 February 2024 lead the Green Back-to-School Campaign at Mpatleng Secondary School in Botshabelo, Mangaung in the Free State.
The Green Back-to-School campaign is an opportunity for the Deputy Minister to conduct oversight duties to assess the state of school readiness for the 2024 academic year. In addition, Deputy Minister Sotyu will use the campaign to support the school with supplies such as school shoes, sanitary packs as well as gardening tools.
Deputy Minister Sotyu’s Green Back-to-School campaign will be supported by senior government leaders such as the Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Ms. Pinky Kekana, Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr. David Mahlobo, the Premier of the Free State, Mr. Mxolisi Dukwana, MEC for Education, Mr. Makalo Mohale, MEC for Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr. Thabo
Meeko, MEC for Community Safety, Roads and Transport, Ms. MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae as well as the Executive Mayor of the City of Mangaung, Cllr Gregory Nthatisi.
Deputy Minister Sotyu’s Green Back-to-School campaign aims to encourage learners and teachers to commit themselves to teaching and learning. The Programme is also part of the Presidency’s Good Green Deeds programme - a ground-breaking environmental awareness programme that seeks to mobilise all sectors in South Africa to become more environmentally conscious.
