South Africa commemorates World Wildlife Day (WWD), 03 March 2023

To celebrate WWD 2023 the DFFE launched the Biodiversity National Electronic Permitting system which will go live on 1 April 2023. This system will strengthen institutional capacity and ensure the effective management of wildlife trade monitoring.

Speaking at the launch, DDG: Corporate Management Services Ms Mmamokgadi Mashala said WWD 2023 reminds us to step up conservation efforts as the planet loses its biodiversity at an alarming rate. This system hopes to accelerate conservation efforts

Speaking at the launch, DDG: Biodiversity and Conservation Ms Flora Mokgohloa said this e-permitting system has been made possible by the support of @theGEF’s 6th Programme which highlights the importance of partnerships for conservation.
