Deputy Minister Sotyu to deliver Keynote address at the 17th Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla
01 SEPTEMBER 2023
The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Makhotso Sotyu, will deliver the keynote address at the opening session of the 17th Air Quality Governance Lekgotla 2023 on 04 September 2023 in Polokwane, Limpopo.
The theme of the 2023 Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla is “Scalable Emission Reduction by 2030.” This year’s deliberations will prioritise the establishment of a platform that will take forward the implementation of emission reduction through tools and interventions that support the implementation objective. This includes a focused compliance effort, a functional atmospheric emission licensing regime and a functional ambient air quality monitoring network. The Lekgotla provides an opportunity for government officials to interact and strengthen regulatory tools towards improved air quality management.
The event is expected to bring together at least 350 air quality officials from all three spheres of government to deliberate on various pertinent issues such as Air Quality Management Planning Tools, Ambient Air Quality Monitoring as well as Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement.
