Deputy Minister Singh to lead Coastal Flavours Seafood Festival in Kwazulu-Natal
23 July 2025
The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), Mr Narend Singh, will lead the Coastal Flavours Seafood Festival, taking place on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at St Michael’s Beach, Margate, on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
The festival celebrates South Africa’s rich marine culture and cuisine, while showcasing the potential of ocean-based economies to uplift coastal communities. Featuring live seafood cookouts, artisanal markets, live entertainment, and sporting activities, the event is designed to draw locals and tourists alike during the annual sardine run.
As part of the day’s programme, Deputy Minister Singh will host a dialogue with Small-Scale Fishers. The engagement will address operational challenges facing registered co-operatives and provide on-site access to support services from various departments and development agencies
The event is hosted in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government, Ugu District Municipality, Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality, and national stakeholders including SEDA, SEFA, DTIC and others.
