Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts to lead Thulamela-Makhado Adopt-A-River Project and hand over Personal Protective Equipment in Limpopo

The Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Ms Bernice Swarts, will on Tuesday, 04 August 2026, lead the Department’s Thulamela-Makhado Adopt-A-River Catchment (TMAC) Project at Tshikofokofo Spring, Mavhola Village, in the Thulamela Local Municipality, Limpopo.

Deputy Minister Swarts’ visit aims to raise public awareness and promote community participation in addressing environmental degradation, while encouraging local communities to become actively involved in the implementation of sustainable livelihood projects and programmes.

As part of the visit, the Deputy Minister will hand over personal protective equipment (PPE) to participants of the TMAC Project.

Deputy Minister Swarts will also engage with traditional leaders and representatives from national, provincial, district and local government on the importance of environmental conservation, including tree planting, water resource protection and the preservation of natural ecosystems.
