Minister Creecy to announce recipients of the Driving Force for Change Youth Pilot Initiative

  • The stage is set for Minister Barbara Creecy to announce the the successful applicants of the Driving Force for Change Pilot Initiative at SANBI
  • Mr Adam Bye from the Ukin South Africa says that the Driving Force for Change Youth Pilot initiative is great because young people are the key driving force in fighting climate change as they bring new and creative ways in the fight against climate change.
  • In her keynote address Minister Barbara Creecy says the Driving Force for Change Initiative is important because it allows for the youth of our country to tackle environmental issues that will in turn add on to the economic recovery plan that was set out by President Cyril Ramaphosa
  • Minister adds that the lives of today's youth will be shaped by their collective efforts to address climate change and that the tenacity and spirit displayed in many of the submissions received give her confidence that the youth is uniquely equipped to confront climate change.
  • "This initiative intends to translate concepts into bankable business ideas,  nurture innovation and technology and to equip our youth with the necessary skill sets and capacities so that their projects have a positive impact on the environment" says Minister Barbara Creecy
  • The award ceremony ends in smiles as the successful participants of the Driving Force for Change Youth Pilot Initiative receive their funding.
