05 October 2022 - It is a great honour for me to be part of this, the 11th Oppenheimer Generations Research and Conservation Conference – one of the most important environmental research conferences on the South African, and now also on the African, biodiversity and conservation research calendar.  Allow me also to sincerely thank the organisers for accommodating me in this afternoon time slot.


04 October 2022 - The group of German tourists were en route to the Mdluli community-owned safari lodge when they were held up by a group on the Numbi Road on Monday afternoon. One member of the group of four tourists was shot and killed during the attack. The killing of a foreign tourist to South Africa is detrimental to the country’s attempts to recover from the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.


04 October 2022 - It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2022 Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla under the theme strengthening air quality management systems. Air pollution is a global challenge affecting both the developed and emerging economies. It affects human health, biodiversity, land and water systems, and has been shown to decrease agricultural yields. 


03 October 2022 - At the outset, South Africa joins others in expressing our deepest condolences to the countries that have recently experienced devastating climatic events, including the United States of America, Cuba, the European Union, large parts of Africa and Pakistan. Such events are a stark and tragic reminder that we have already entered the era of loss and damage.


30 September 2022 - The 2022 Air Quality Governance Lekgotla is expected to bring together at least 350 air quality officials from all three spheres of government, scientists, policymakers and practitioners to deliberate on topical air quality management issues; as well as share innovations and demonstrate best practice. The lekgotla, themed “strengthening air quality management system, is scheduled to take place on 03 – 05 October 2022.
