PURPOSE
To coordinate and manage the strategic functions and operations of the DFFE.
WHAT IS THE CORPORATE MANAGEMENT SERVICES BRANCH?
The Corporate Management Services (CMS) branch is a central support and strategic services division within the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). It is responsible for coordinating and managing core strategic and operational support functions that enable the department to run effectively and sustainably.
Corporate Management Services is key in ensuring that the DFFE has strong corporate governance, effective planning systems, clear strategic communication, and reliable administrative and executive services.
The official purpose of this branch is to coordinate and manage the strategic functions and operations of the DFFE. (Forestry and Fisheries Department) This means CMS works across the department to provide essential backbone services so that all other environmental, forestry, fisheries and regulatory branches can fulfill their mandates smoothly.
STRATEGIC & OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
CMS manages strategic business planning, organisational performance management, and risk management frameworks to enhance implementation of departmental priorities.
COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH
CMS provides strategic communications support and promotes a positive image of the Minister, Deputy Minister, and the DFFE overall — including public and media engagement.
CORPORATE & COOPERATIVE GOVERNANCE
The branch ensures sound corporate governance, management of departmental projects (especially those implemented by third parties), and coordination with other government entities and stakeholders.a
ADMINISTRATIVE AND EXECUTIVE SUPPORT
CMS delivers essential administrative services that enable effective management of the department’s executive functions.
SPECIAL PROJECTS AND TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMMES
The branch coordinates transformation initiatives and special projects — including change management and transformation programmes — that contribute to organisational development.
